Meet Carlie & David
David is English and came out to Australia with his mum on a teachers exchange when he was 14. His mum was teaching at an all girls school so David came to my school. We had science and commerce together and he likes to tell people that he knew from then that he would marry me. We stayed in contact and eventually in 2009 i had to move out there so we could be together properly.
The proposal
We lived in Bristol which is about 2 hours west of London. We were having a weekend away in London. He took me to the Ritz for a very fancy afternoon tea and then we went out and saw a for that evening. On the way back to the hotel David asked our driver to stop in the middle of westminster bridge, where he then proposed! It was beautiful because it was quite late so we had the bridge to ourselves (a rare occasion) and Big Ben and the London eye were beautifully lit up.
Your Wedding Day
The wedding day was gorgeous! And even better we didnt have any problems with anything! We were a bit worried about the weather in the lead up to the day as there had been some rain but the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze so our guests didnt get too hot during our outdoor ceremony and the boys didnt get too hot in their suits. Us girls got ready at the Crown Plaza Terrigal (where David and i stayed that night) and the boys got ready at my parents house. We had the ceremony at a friends house at Forresters Beach (where i grew up) and then we had photos on the beach and at Terrigal Haven. The reception was at the reef and again everything was perfect. The theme of the wedding was “white with texture” but it kind of ended up being a bit more “white with sparkles” but it was perfect and it wowed all of our guests. The other thing that wowed our guests was our first dance, David and I had a hard time choosing what song we should have (Davids a musician) and as we went through our iTunes the decision just got harder and harder. We ended up choosing (with lots of pleading and giggles from me)Beyonce’s ‘Crazy in Love’. A good friend of ours is a dance teacher and a week before the wedding she helped us come up with some pretty awesome moves! All in all it was a wonderful day full of celebration being surrounded by people we love.
