Meet Deona & Scott
I met Scott through one of my girlfriends. She wanted me to go out with her one evening so she would have some company when going out with her new boyfriend. I did not want to go, but did so for my friend. I tried to make the most of the evening and began talking to “Scott”. He was a really nice guy, and from that moment we kind of clicked and became good friends. For the next weeks we just hung out and the rest is history.
The proposal
We had been together for 5 years and it was Christmas day. I had no idea anything was going to happen because we had flown to QLD to spend Christmas with Scott’s family. On Christmas morning, we exchanged gifts with the family and decided to go for a walk around the property where we were staying. All of a sudden Scott turned around and said, “Babe, I have another present for you”, and he presented me with a beautiful box, down on one knee, and asked me if I would marry him. I was so happy that I cried.
Your Wedding Day
We decided to have our wedding at Hamilton Island. The idea of an island wedding seemed so magical. We wanted a simple, elegant and personal wedding. My wedding dress was the only one I tried on and it was a perfect fit, no alterations necessary at all. My veil was borrowed from a family friend, and was a long full veil. I had a beautiful bunch of cream roses which were so perfect. We had 45 of our closest friends and family. We were able to have a short holiday with our guests a few days before the “big day”, which gave us time to relax and unwind from all the wedding planning. Our ceremony was at the All Saints Chapel, followed by our reception at Marinars Restaurant. The morning of the wedding went smoothly and I arrived in a cream Rolls Royce. I walked down the aisle at All Saints Chapel to “All my life” by KC and Jo Jo. When I first saw Scott I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry I was so excited. It was such a special and intimate day. The small number of guests made it relaxing, and gave us the time to enjoy the day with those that meant the most to us. We had our photos on the beach, and One Tree Hill lookout, which was on the top of a cliff. The view was amazing. The small group meant we could have a reception with the finest food and drink. The reception was a private affair with just family and close friends. Our stunning two-tiered cake was covered in perfect iced cream roses, in which we still have the top tier today. We spent the next 2 nights on the island and then flew to the USA for our honeymoon
