[WEDDING VIDEO] 'It feels like you are perched on a hill in Santorini'
From A Melbourne Hosier Lane Marriage Proposal To A Northern Beaches Wedding.
Chelita + Jamie first met when they were teenagers. Jamie was best friends with Chelita’s cousin Max and they were staying at her house during the school holidays to cheer her up as she had just been dumped by her first love.
What was your first date like?
Our first date was cute, we were young! We went out for fajitas and then to a cafe for coffee, where we hung for hours and ordered about three coffees.
How did you get engaged? Was there a story behind the proposal?
We got engaged when we were on a trip to Melbourne where we visited a wine bar Jamie said he wanted to check out Hosier Lane, a popular alley full of graffiti. Halfway up the alley, a song we love started playing and I felt like everyone was looking at me. I turned and he was on one knee and noticed next to me in massive writing was “Marry Me Chelita” spray painted on the wall. The same artist he had paid to do the spray painting he also got to play our song and film the whole thing – nailed it!
What appealed to you about your chosen ceremony venue?
What appealed to us about Jonah’s for the ceremony and reception was the insane views. We loved the way it feels like you are perched on a hill in Santorini. This is why we chose a lunchtime ceremony/reception, to make the most of those views.
What was your favourite wedding ceremony moment?
My favourite ceremony moment was hearing Jamie’s vowels. He says his favourite was seeing me walk down the aisle.
We had a very intimate wedding with 45 guests. We loved every second of it, none of it was overwhelming or too much. Our favourite aspect was that we spent quality time with everyone at our reception. We took time to enjoy the food, drinks and speeches. After our lunch reception at Jonah’s, we went to a house on the water we had hired, along with waiters and a live band. We danced, drank and swam the night away.
