Meet Rebecca & Nathan
Approx. 9 years ago, Nathan came to work at Domino’s Pizzas in Mackay as a delivery driver where I was working as an assistant manager. Our first real encounter, and something that we both have never forgotten, is when, for a ‘some-what’ initiation for my assistant manager training, is that I had to give out a certain amount of reprimands to our staff, and poor Nathan was a recipient (wrong place, wrong time situation), out of no fault of his own, but only because Ireally had to.
The proposal
After about 7 years together (and after a 2009 Christmas gift of the movie The Proposal – not the one I was after!) I planned a special fun day out together, and he had no idea what the day entailed. We first went to mini golf, lunch, Gold Class cinemas, Stone Restaurant, South Bank for dinner, than on the Brisbane Wheel I gave Nathan a little bear with a box filled with a love heart puzzle piece (15 or so pieces) which he had to put together, when he did (with my help as it was harder than I thought
Your Wedding Day
Wedding colours were red, white and black, this theme featured throughout (starting with the wedding invites a few months back, then on the wedding day with the flower colours, stationery and reception room décor.
The first dance of the night was to one of the first songs Nathan sang and played on his guitar to Rebecca just before they were a couple (“Hero” – by Enrique Iglesias), and last song of the night was “Kissed by a Rose” by Seal, which was picked out as it would be lovely but also funny as Nathan’s surname is Rose – everyone had a good ol’ laugh to this, but all jumped onto the dance floor for a dance and sing.
As soon as we got out of the front doors of the Church, we had the biggest smile on our faces – I was actually laughing. When you have wanted something for so long and then at the point when you have just gotten it, it is such an amazing feeling!
All elements had personalised touches – from the centrepieces created by Rebecca and her family (submerged rose centrepieces) to the table name cards (Survivor – Reality TV program – theme named) down to the red beaded love heart on the side of the brides dress (made the Friday before the wedding to add a little ‘wow’ factor).
Our cake topper was a clay figure replica of Nathan and Rebecca, as well as their little dog Louie.
Funniest Moment was at the reception when my NZ family was the entertainment of the night. They were running around collecting the LED lights from the centrepieces, placed them into the bonbonniere bags and were throwing them around in the bags, placing the lights down their shirts, up their sleeves (to give them muscles)
