Shimmer has been actively involved in the Melbourne music scene for years, and has been very successful with their music – probably because of their vast versatility.
Shimmer has both male and female vocals.
Shimmer can play as a 3 piece upwards – with the 3 piece band being Piano, Acoustic Guitar/Male Vocals and beautiful female vocals.
Shimmer recently played at THE PALLADIUM at Crown for the Bridal spectacular and received many compliments and encores.
Shimmer formed in 2003, with Dave on Guitar and Vocals, Rach and Martina on Vocals, and Greg on piano. Things sounded great, and they played a few gigs which were well received. In 2004, Greg left to work in the UK, and Nick joined the band on keys. This has been the lineup ever since.
Dave, Martina and Rach have been singing together for over 10 years, beginning in high-school and even before. As a most-recently-joined member, Nick contributes a wealth of skills and experience as a pianist and vocalist, with a musical versatility that expands the group’s range of styles. Speaking of a range of styles, Shimmer has played everything from swing-jazz parties, to all out rockin’ concerts, to light jazz before wedding ceremonies. They’ve played with just voice and acoustic guitar, and with drums bass and a horn section.
To keep it fresh, Shimmer brings in new songs almost every week. They also bring in other great musicians, most often percussion, to add a new dimension to the sound.
