The historic castle was built in 1859, and for over 30 years it’s been used as a captivating wedding venue. The castles architecture lends from the Scottish Baronial style and features a delightful chapel. The wedding ceremony can take place in the gardens with the grand castle as the backdrop, and the reception can be enjoyed within the castle.
With Open fire places for the cold Melbourne winters and over 4 acres of pristine English garden it’s a picturesque backdrop for an abundance of fairytale pictures. Being situated in Melbourne you can’t always rely on the weather, if you are unable to have your wedding ceremony in our garden we do have a one of a kind non-denominational chapel available. Originally built by William Taylor as a Billiard Room and prefabricated in Scotland. Twelve etched pen and ink portraits on oak panels adorn the walls. It is like no other wedding venue you will find anywhere in Melbourne or in fact Australia.

Your first entry as a married couple will be an unforgettable moment, with all your family and friends clapping and cheering as you weave your way through to the Bridal table. The large dining room features a breathtaking crystal chandelier and beautiful bay window which shadows you as you sit to eat your first meal as husband and wife. Through the many windows in the dining room you will also see the floodlit gardens and 1000’s of fairy lights after all it is your castle for the day and a castle wouldn’t be complete without fairy lights.

A wonderful venue! The staff were very attentive and Kayleen even gave her belt to assist one of our guests; that is the level of commitment to making this an amazing venue to host a wedding. Emma was meticulous in her planning and offered so much insight into the menu and floor plan. We had a fantastic night as did our guests - thank you again to Emma and the Overnewton Castle staff.

What a fantastic venue to have your wedding. From the time we enquired until the time of the wedding Matt and his team were fantastic. The food was amazing and the venue is not only great for both ceremony (it rained on our wedding day and the back up of the chapel was fantastic!). Awesome venue for photos, absolutely beautiful. 5*

It was incredible to experience how simple it can be to book, organise and make a reception happen! We were so grateful to Emma and the team at Overnewton for their warmth, professionalism, care and complete willingness to bend over backwards to look after us, our guests and every little, tiny detail. When we arrived, my bridesmaids and I had muddy shoes. One of the staff at Overnewton offered to take our shoes, clean them and bring them back, which she did with a smile. We couldn't believe it. The venue is stunning and it was as though the last few autumn leaves had been stitched onto the building just as highlights for our photos. The food was generous, right from the hors d'oeuvres, through the three-course meal and the drinks package. We selected one of the more affordable packages and yet the wines were very lovely (widely complimented by our real wine buff friends and family). Loved every moment from planning to celebrating with each other and all our loved ones.

Wow how can I sum up such a fantastic venue? The service was AMAZING. I cannot fully explain how great the staff were. Right from the start they were so accommodating and understanding - they even dressed up for our wedding in costume and were able to change a meal to vegetarian 20 minutes before dinner!! The actual place is immaculate and stunning - great place for photos! On the night staff were always so concerned about myself (the bride) and kept checking on us as well as the guests to make sure everyone was happy. Thank you so much guys, you were incredible and we'll never forget the night. We'll definitely go back for afternoon teas - an added bonus is it is not just a venue to book, but they hold other events such as that so you can go back for an anniversary lunch etc :)
