Meet Kymberly & Sydney

We met at a pub in Cape Tribulation in the Daintree Rainforest. We were both working at a resort there. It was quite clear from the very beginning that we both shared the same sense of humour and were very similar. I’d never laughed so much before meeting Syd. After a few months we moved down to Airlie Beach to start our own life together.

The proposal

Syd hired the same kind of Jeep that he drove when we met and drove me up to Cape Tribulation. After we checked in he took me to the rock we used to climb up and spend our afternoons. He surrounded me with white flowers and got down on one knee and nervously asked me to be his wife. I laughed and cried and giggled and he told me I was mucking up his speech. We both laughed again and went straight to the pub.

Your Wedding Day

We had a fantastic day. When we lived in Airlie Beach we fell in love with the chapel on Daydream Island so choosing a location wasn’t difficult at all. The day before, the weather was windy and overcast and cold. The morning of the wedding, we opened our windows to a beautifully calm and sunny day. Because all our family and friends were all travelling to the island, we had a relatively small group of guests in attendance which was really nice and personal. We both got to catch up with everyone and just have a good time at the reception rather than being run off our feet “doing the rounds”. Daydream Island staff were fantastic, everything fell into place for us and we both had a great time.
